VOx
The temperature-sensitive detector material used in many uncooled thermal cores.
What it means
VOx stands for vanadium oxide. In an uncooled microbolometer, absorbed infrared radiation changes the temperature of a sensing element and therefore its electrical response.
VOx describes detector technology. It does not by itself specify the image resolution, pixel pitch, noise performance, output interface or temperature-measurement capability.
In practice
Compare the complete detector and module specification, including the stated NETD test conditions, rather than selecting by the detector material alone.
