Y16
A capture-format label that does not, by itself, define the units of a pixel value.
What it means
Y16 commonly denotes a 16-bit grayscale sample container. The meaningful signal may use fewer bits or follow a product-specific coding scheme.
Different camera modes can assign different meanings to the stored words. The format name alone cannot establish a universal temperature formula.
In practice
Use the camera’s documented data mode and SDK conversion. Confirm the actual buffer dimensions and any non-image rows.
