LWIR
The infrared waveband used by the thermal modules in this library.
What it means
LWIR means long-wave infrared. CAMCUDA product specifications in this library commonly list a spectral response of 8–14 µm. This is a wavelength band, separate from the detector’s pixel pitch, which is also expressed in micrometres.
A thermal detector responds to radiation in its supported band. The image depends on the scene, optics and processing; calibrated temperature measurement additionally requires a radiometric configuration.
In practice
Select lenses and protective windows for the camera’s infrared band. Visible-light transparency alone does not establish LWIR transmission.
