NETD
A measure of thermal sensitivity, usually expressed in millikelvins.
What it means
NETD characterises how small a scene-temperature difference a thermal camera can distinguish relative to its noise. A smaller value generally indicates better sensitivity under equivalent test conditions.
NETD is not absolute temperature accuracy. Compare the test temperature, lens F-number, frame rate and other stated conditions alongside the number.
In practice
Do not read a 40 mK NETD specification as a promise of ±0.04 °C measurement accuracy.
