Thermal fundamentals

Detector resolution

Native thermal array

The number of physical samples in the thermal detector array.

What it means

A detector resolution such as 640 × 512 describes the physical sampling array. It does not describe every possible USB buffer, encoded stream or display mode.

Processing may scale an image or add data rows. ThermoCore-IP-384, for example, has a native 384 × 288 detector while its specification lists a 720 × 576 main video stream.

In practice

Integration note

Keep native resolution, transmitted buffer dimensions and display dimensions as separate fields in your integration requirements.
