Athermal lens
An optical design intended to limit focus change as temperature varies.
What it means
Temperature changes can alter the optical and mechanical properties of a lens assembly. An athermal design compensates for these effects over its specified operating range.
Athermal fixed-focus optics still have a defined working range and mechanical configuration. The label does not establish identical focus performance in every enclosure or at every object distance.
In practice
Verify image sharpness over the actual ambient range and working distance using the final lens, mount and enclosure.
